INT - SKINNER'S APT - BEDROOM - MORNING
FEBRUARY 10

Scully is asleep, looking all warm and comfortable. The clock reads 6 a.m. Skinner enters the room and sits down next to Scully on the bed. He gently brushes a strand of hair off her face, then bends down to kiss her on the forehead.

SKINNER
(gently, shaking her awake)
Hey... Dana...

Scully rolls over on her side to face Skinner more directly, and let's out a little wake-up moan and stretches out a bit as she yawns.

SKINNER
I made breakfast for you
this morning.

SCULLY
Why'd you wake me up?
It's Saturday... don't you
know people sleep in on Saturdays?

SKINNER
I'm sorry .. I ... um...

Scully sits up in bed, it's too late now to fall back asleep.

SCULLY
What's the occasion?
You've never made breakfast
for me before.

SKINNER
Nothing special...

Scully looks at him, not believing that. Off her look:

SKINNER
Just because I love you.

SCULLY
(standing up)
Just because you love me...

She walks over to a chair and put on her robe and slippers and without running a brush through her hair, she walks into the hallway and into the dining room. Skinner follows.

SKINNER
Are you cold? I can
turn up the heat.

SCULLY
(under her breath)
It's Saturday...
(to Skinner, snooty)
I'm fine... just waking up.

She smiles at him, but it's not a very nice smile.

SCULLY
Bacon, eggs, and a
fruit salad... my favorite.

Skinner sits down to join her.

SKINNER
I can make pancakes if you want...

SCULLY
(stops eating)
Ok, what did you do?

SKINNER
(not understanding)
What do you mean?

SCULLY
(irritated)
Making me breakfast,
offering to do things for
me... this isn't normal.

SKINNER
Why should I have a reason?

SCULLY
Well... I don't know.
(she eats some fruit)
Most guys I know only do
nice things when they need
me to do something for them -

SKINNER
(getting frustrated)
- and most guys you know
are Mulder and Krycek.

Scully chooses to ignore his last comment, as she finishes her breakfast. It seems a bit tense in the room, no one really knows why, but it is... Scully must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed... on this Saturday morning, she has gotten used to Mulder and Krycek Saturday mornings.

Scully gets up to take her dishes into the kitchen.

SKINNER
(standing up)
I can get that for -

SCULLY
- No! I'm quite capable!

She enters the kitchen and we hear her say "geez" under her breath.

SKINNER
(under his breath)
Only tryin' to help...

CUT TO:

INT - MULDER/KRYCEK'S APT - LIVING ROOM

Mulder and Krycek are sitting on the couch watching their video tapes of "Syndicate X".

MULDER
I love this episode!

KRYCEK
(quoting with episode, girly voice)
Oh Spendie.. you really know how
to shoot pool. Where'd you learn to
handle your stick so well?

MULDER
Oh! Look at his face!
(beat for the look)
Classic!

SUDDENLY their phone rings they look at the phone with disbelief.

KRYCEK
(dramatic)
Who would call, interrupting
"Syndicate X"?

The phone rings again.

MULDER
(dramatic, answering the question)
Marita...

Mulder reaches for the phone and answers.

INTER CUTS:

MULDER
(on phone, flirtatious)
Hey baby, what's happenin'?

SKINNER
Mulder?

MULDER
Sorry Sir, I thought you
were somebody else.

SKINNER
Obviously (beat) I need
you guys to do something for me.

Mulder continues to listen as Skinner tells him what needs to be done. After a few minutes, he hangs up the phone and sits down.

MULDER
Wanna go to the park?

KRYCEK
Mulder, it's freezing outside,
plus there's 3 feet of snow on
the ground. I'm not going anywhere.

MULDER
You can throw a snowball
in my face...

Krycek looks over, amused... he just may go for that opportunity.

TIME CUT:

INT - SKINNER'S APT - BILLIARDS ROOM - AFTERNOON

Skinner is in the room alone, shooting pool. An unreadable expression is on his face as he takes a shot at the #2 ball in a corner pocket.

Scully walks into the room, on the cordless phone with Marita.

SCULLY
(on phone)
- well, I don't know.
(beat as Marita says something)
Well, I can tell you I'm tired
of waiting around... feeling like
my life is going nowhere.

Skinner looks up from his "game", wondering what they are talking about. He takes another shot. Scully laughs suddenly.

SCULLY
(laughing)
Very funny Marita!
(beat, stops laughing)
Oh, ok. I'll call you back
later... tell your dad I say hi.
(beat) Bye.

She hangs up the phone.

SKINNER
Wanna go for a walk?

SCULLY
(glares at him)
It's freezing out.

SKINNER
I'll keep you warm.

He gives her a warm smile that she cannot resist.

CUT TO:

EXT - PARK - 4:30 PM

Scully and Skinner are walking arm-in-arm through the snow. They spot two idiots running around a snowman throwing snowballs at eachother and then they wrestle eachother in the snow.

SCULLY
Is that Mulder and Krycek?

SKINNER
Only those two would be
this immature...

As he finishes his sentence, he bends down, to make a snowball and starts to run up to Mulder and Krycek to surprise attack them. Mulder lies in the snow... seemingly defeated by Krycek, who stands (his back to Skinner) both of his arms in the air, proclaiming his victory over Mulder. SUDDENLY, a snowball whacks Krycek on the back of his head, Krycek turns around to discover Skinner, laughing at him.

KRYCEK
(mad)
Hey!

Skinner laughs and then dodges a snowball thrown by Krycek. Mulder starts to giggle from the ground then stands up, covered in snow, which of course he doesn't dust off. Mulder runs up behind Skinner and tackles him to the ground... Scully carefully approaches this scene not wanting to get hit by any snow.

SCULLY
Come on guys... stop it.

All three of them stop momentarily and look up at her from the ground. Mulder jumps up.

MULDER
Scully, you have to see
the snowman we made!

He grabs her arm forcefully and drags her a few feet over to the snowman. Skinner and Krycek follow close and slower behind them.

SCULLY'S POV - THE SNOWMAN

It's actually well put together, Mulder and Krycek even took the time to find cinnamon candy discs for it's eyes, and a banana for it's nose. A hat on it's head and a scarf around it's neck. In it's side, a piece of cardboard, glued to a stick says "Scully" on it. Skinner coughs, signaling Mulder and Krycek to walk away. Scully takes the cardboard, and turns it over, there's a small note on it: "Skinner has something to ask you. Turn around." Confused, she turns around and finds Skinner standing in front of her.

SKINNER
Dana... I've been thinking
a lot about us lately ... I
wasn't really sure how to bring
this up a second time around...

He gets down on one knee in the snow and looks up at her, taking her hand into his. He looks deep into her eyes, Scully unknowingly kneels down next to him.

SKINNER
What I'm trying to say is...
I want to spend the rest of
my life with you (beat) I'm asking
you if you'll be my wife.

Scully has tears in her eyes, happy tears. She smiles at him.

SCULLY
Yes.

SKinner reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a ring box and opens it. He places the engagement ring on Scully's finger, it's not anything elaborate, small and simple. They stand up and he kisses her gently on the lips, as "woohoo"s are heard from Mulder and Krycek in the BACKGROUND. As they approach them, Skinner wipes a tear from his eye.

SCULLY
(smart ass to Skinner)
So this is why you were
being all nice this morning.

She stands next to Skinner and wraps her arm around his waist.

MULDER
Did we do a good job Skin Man?

He and Krycek stand next to their snowman, beaming with pride, like children.

SKINNER
It worked, didn't it?

SCULLY
(nudging his side/raising eyebrow)
Very clever, Walter.

Mulder and Krycek high-five eachother.

SCULLY
(running up to Mulder/Krycek)
Look at my hand!

She outstretches her arm to show the engagement ring to them.

KRYCEK
It's kinda small, isn't it?

Mulder knocks Krycek upside the head.

MULDER
I think it's pretty.

SCULLY
(looking at her hand)
It's perfect.

She goes up to Skinner. He puts his arm over her shoulders and they walk off into the winter sunset. Behind them, Mulder and Krycek start their snowball fight... again.

FADE OUT:

THE END.
